Save Lives, Eat Local: (Red) teams up with area restaurants for fundraiser


Earlier this month, (RED) kicked off its Eat (RED) Save Lives campaign during which some of the Valley’s most-loved restaurants, chefs and culinary brands came together in the fight against AIDS. The organization was founded by U2 singer Bono and Bobby Shriver.

Here are the local participants and their deals that run through June 30:

Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza – Blaze’s signature Red Vine Pizza will go (RED) for the month of June. For every purchase of a (RED) Vine pizza and a Coca-Cola drink, $1 will be donated to the Global Fund, up to $50,000. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will match the donations made by Blaze. Locations in Phoenix and Tempe.

Jimmy John’s – Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches is supporting the AIDS fight this June with a $100,000 donation to the Global Fund. Jimmy John’s will also promote EAT (RED) SAVE LIVES and create awareness through a special (RED) Snapchat filter at its 2,700-plus U.S. locations.

The Cheesecake Factory – Throughout June, The Cheesecake Factory and (RED) partner Coca-Cola are joining forces to feature its Ultimate (RED) Velvet Cheesecake and Coca-Cola to celebrate its $20,000 donation to the AIDS fight. The Cheesecake Factory guests in the U.S. also have a chance to enter a sweepstakes on its Facebook page, offering followers a chance to win a complimentary eCard to The Cheesecake Factory or an exclusive EAT (RED) prize pack.

Andaz – The Scottsdale hotel will donate $1 to (RED)’s fight to end AIDS, with a $1 match opportunity to each guest who dines at an Andaz restaurant to double the impact. Select Andaz properties are also offering a special signature breakfast item, with every order triggering a $3 donation from the hotel that goes directly to (RED)’s fight. Special signature breakfasts in Scottsdale include red velvet pancakes.
