Formed in 2005, Dutch production duo DubVision is finally bringing its touring production to the Valley with an upcoming stop at Tempe’s Marquee Theatre. The progressive house group is quick to note that they’re not limiting themselves to classic DubVision tracks, as they are currently on the heels of new singles like “Geht’s Noch” and “Fall Apart.” But while fans can also expect mashups they may recognize, the duo of brothers Stephan and Victor Leicher still has plenty of surprises in store for fans – including their collaboration with Afrojack. In this exclusive interview, Stephan Leicher discusses the upcoming show as well as collaborations and expectations for the future.
You are playing an amazing show in Tempe on September 30, Electronite, with Price & Takis, DJ Jen Jones and Shadez. What can we expect from your performance?
We had an amazing summer so far. We’re very excited to play in Tempe for the first time. We have some sick new mashups of old classic DubVision tracks, but we also have a bunch of new ones. We’ll play our collab with Afrojack. We’re, really curious how the Tempe crowd is gonna react on that one!
You wrote on your website that 2016 was all about improvement. What has 2017 meant to you?
We have been improving a lot in the show, visual wise. We made a lot of visuals that makes our show a better experience. We had great reactions so for, so we’ll be investing in more visuals to make an even better show! Music wise, we have been experimenting a lot with different styles and instruments. Expect some cool new tunes during our show!
Who are some of your favorite collaborators?
Top of our list would be Axwell, Zedd and Chainsmokers. We’re finishing an amazing tune with Afrojack at the moment!
Have there been any projects that have been really challenging? If so, how do you work your way through those challenges?
There have been many. The biggest challenge was when we were asked by Axwell to do the remix of “Discopolis – Committed” by Sparkle Motion. We were young and new in the game. We worked 1.5 months on the perfect melody. We’ve made so many. We spent a lot of studio time on that project and work on different projects in between so we don’t get stuck.
What is your songwriting process like? Do you kind of stick with the same methods, or does it depend on the vibe?
We both like to just play the piano and had and come up with melodies. Most of the time, that’s the case of how we come up with a good concept.
What do you have planned for 2018?
Bigger shows and bigger tracks!
What is one thing you hope ticketholders know about you when they walk into the Marquee in Tempe for your show?
That they get all kinds of positive emotions during our show and leave with a big smile. That’s what we want to achieve! Thank you for having us and see you at the show!
