Christmas at the Princess: The annual celebration is the biggest, brightest yet


It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

And, making the season more wonderful, is the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. The AAA Five Diamond resort is hosting Christmas at the Princess, a celebration of the season through December 31 dedicating to helping families make memories and create new holiday traditions.

Open nightly, the celebration features several new elements, including a Santa Suite VIP Experience and 250,000 new LED lights. Here is an insider’s guide to making the most of your visit this year:

 Enchanted Plaza Shows

Don’t miss this 5-minute video show projected against the resort’s facade. The Princess’ Christmas tree has 70,000 LED lights that twinkle and dance to 17 classic holiday songs in the Enchanted Plaza. During the day, the four-story tree is decorated with dozens of glistening snowflakes and a 5-foot snowflake tree topper.

S’mores Land

Travel through La Hacienda Plaza to an enchanting land. Join the resort’s newest friend Graham, a squishable s’more, at his home where patrons can roast marshmallows around a campfire in a Christmas Tree Forest, take a glittering whirl on the Christmas carousel and Frosty’s Ferris Wheel, and adopt a cuddly friend at the new Build-A-Bear experience. Before sliding down the four-lane Polar Glide Ice Slide, they can say hello to Shivers the Yeti.

Lagoon Lights & Princess Express Trains

Enjoy more than 4.5 million LED lights as you stroll through the resort’s majestic lagoons. Displays include swans floating on the water, buccaneer pirate ship, mermaid, 14-foot poinsettias, Teddy bear, toy soldiers, fishing Santa, leaping arches, Nessie the 30-foot Loch Ness Monster, menorah, dreidels, 3D whale, skating penguins, candy cane forest and more. Hitch a ride on the Princess Express Trains, offering rides around the resort’s lagoons to spectators of all ages.

Holiday Character Appearances

Santa has invited his delightful holiday friends from the North Pole to visit the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess again this year. Meet Graham, Shivers, Princess Noel, Angelica, Selfie Elfie and Peppermint Penguin as you stroll through the property.

Holiday Shopping & Gift Cards

The Christmas Shoppe at Kringle’s Korner offers items like wintery wear, seasonal decor, collectible ornaments, snow globes, train whistles, Selfie Elfie and Elf on the Shelf toys, gourmet chocolates and pet toys.

Santa Suite VIP Experience

Santa unveiled his secret Scottsdale headquarters just last Christmas (still operating and detailed below), and now he and Mrs. Claus are inviting guests to stay overnight in their new luxurious home-away-from-home. Savor the holiday spirit in an elegant suite adorned with all the finest trimmings, including a full-size Christmas tree, personalized stockings hung by the chimney for each guest, tea and hot cocoa set, opulent holiday décor throughout—including special holiday bedding, Santa’s turntable with a private selection of Christmas classics on vinyl, sweet treats aplenty and story books from Mrs. Claus.

Santa’s Secret Headquarters

Join Santa inside his magical new Secret Headquarters, where the young and young-at-heart can have family photos taken with Kris Kringle while meeting a few of his favorite friends along the way. Stop by and meet Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick every night through December 24. Photo packages available for purchase.

Desert Ice Skating Rink

Made with real ice, the resort’s 6,000-square-foot Desert Ice Skating Rink provides skaters the opportunity to experience a classic winter tradition surrounded by the beauty of the Scottsdale desert and starry night sky, along with magical rink side snowfalls nightly.

Build-A-Bear Workshop

This winter, Build-A-Bear Workshop fans can find the beloved brand’s one-of-a-kind holiday experience right on property. Here, guests of all ages will enjoy the opportunity to build their beary own stuffed animal at the workshop. Choose from an assortment of cheery clothing, accessories, scents and sounds, each sold separately.

Held through the end of the year, the event starts at $55 includes up to six attraction wristbands per vehicle (equal to number of occupants) and gives each guest access to Princess express trains, Copper Canyon Village light show, Enchanted Plaza Experience, 4.5 million holiday lights, holiday characters, nativity garden, s’mores land family campfires, Christmas carousel, ice slide and the ferris wheel. Walk-in single wristbands are $25/guest. There are additional fees for photos with Santa, Santa’s VIP Experience, the Desert Ice Skating Rink, Build-A-Bear Workshop and rink-side VIP fire pit rentals.
