For more than 40 years, Cerreta Candy Company has been providing America with crave-worthy, family-made chocolate, caramel, fudge and brittles from their historic Glendale factory.
After learning the art of candy making from his father-in-law (the first candy maker in the U.S. to wrap soft candy in cellophane instead of waxed paper), Jim Cerreta, Sr. moved from Ohio to Arizona and continued the family tradition with his children. The Cerreta Candy Company is now a beloved state treasure and the largest candy factory in Arizona—and they more than welcome visitors.
Every Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Marisa Cerreta, Jim Sr.’s daughter-in-law, gives a free 30-minute guided tour of the factory that shows everything from how a sea of caramel becomes hardened and wrapped candies to how those scrumptious boxed chocolates get their gooey cream centers.
Plus, a box of Cerreta’s is the perfect way to send your love from Arizona. With cactus-shaped chocolates, Camelback bars (caramel, pecan, chocolate dream) and the incorporation of many local ingredients, including honey, dairy and pecans, Cerreta’s candies embody the sweetness that Arizona is known for.
