Super Bowl LVII is set for State Farm Stadium in Glendale, but those who can’t make it can party at the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee’s first official Super Bowl Watch Party presented by Verizon on Sunday, February 12.
Leading up to the watch party is the Super Bowl Experience presented by Lowe’s at Margaret T. Hance Park from Thursday, February 9, to Saturday, February 11.
Jay Parry, the president and chief executive officer of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, says the event allows everyone to enjoy Super Bowl activities.
“We wanted to make sure we were elevating the fan experience and creating a number of different events around the community so that we would have something for everyone — something for our locals and something for our visitors,” Parry says.
She said the family-friendly event will have activities like a 40-yard dash in a human hamster wheel and a 50- by 80-foot football-themed obstacle course. She says there are activities for adults as well.
“We are creating a lot of entertainment with DJ Solomon leading up to the game,” Parry says.
“A lot of interactive activities as well as food and drink. There will be a lot to do on game day. The game itself will be broadcast on the Verizon stage, which will have Arizona’s largest high-definition LED screens. We think it will be something special.”
Entertainment includes performances by Jimmy Eat World, Lee Brice and Arizona. The event is free and open to the public.
“It’s important that we really communicate that this is free at Hance Park,” she says. “It is intended to be a community activity, and we are really intent on making sure that our locals have a great experience around the Super Bowl, too.”
Parry said the concerts on Thursday, February 9, through Saturday, February 11, will start after dark. The Super Bowl Watch Party will open at 11 a.m.
Parry stresses the event is evolving and things are changing every day. For instance, she said they are working on a nightly light show that will be incorporated into and after the broadcast of Super Bowl LVII.
